Holzarchitektur des Wälderhauses am Inselpark

One house. One shared idea.

Forests, nature and sustainability connect the architecture of the Wälderhaus with its people and offerings.

Many offerings under one roof

The Wälderhaus in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg brings together the Science Center Wald, event spaces, the Wilhelms restaurant, the Raphael Hotel, a gallery and a shop. Each offering has its own focus and explores forests and sustainability in a different way.

The organisation behind the house

The Hamburg regional association of Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald commissioned and owns the building. Its office is based in the Wälderhaus. It runs the Science Center Wald and the gallery, while other partners operate further offerings.

Architecture with a purpose

The distinctive timber façade makes the connection with forests visible from outside. The Wälderhaus was developed as an excellence project of the International Building Exhibition Hamburg and stands beside Wilhelmsburger Inselpark.
